"Today’s employment report was expected to show an economy not yet in recession but at least headed in that direction,” said ABC Chief Economist Anirban Basu. “Shockingly, that did not come to pass, as U.S. employers added 528,000 jobs in July, more than twice the consensus forecast of 250,000, and the unemployment rate across all industries fell to 3.5%, tied for the lowest rate since the late 1960s." Whitaker’s outlook isn’t all doom and gloom. For instance, in 2023, the delivery pace should improve slightly to 31,000 beds, he said. That increase will be marked by a sharp rise in new development around urban schools in 2023, including the Georgia Institute of Technology, set to deliver 2,630 new beds that fall; the University of Texas at Austin, slated for 1,840 new beds; and the University of Washington, with 1,510 new beds expected.
He attributed this growth to a rebound from the drop in demand associated with the COVID-19 pandemic. Read the full article Here. Civil engineer and contractor build 3D digital bridge with Trimble model collaboration platform6/21/2022

This year, Hospitality Design is honoring Ennismore’s Sharan Pasricha and Simeone Deary for their contributions to hospitality. Sharan Pasricha, founder and co-CEO of Ennismore, has been named this year’s Hotelier of the Year. Pasricha has reinvented the lifestyle hotel with two distinct brands: the luxe Gleneagles, known for its ornate and soulful interiors, and the energetic Hoxton, which brings a culturally rich aesthetic to urban locales. Allied Partners was proud to help manage the renovation of The Hoxton (pictured above) in Old Town Portland, Oregon.
KTGY Simeone Deary Design Group has been recognized as the Design Firm of the Year. Founded by partners Lisa Simeone and Gina Deary in 2002 (in 2021, Simeone Deary Design Group joined forces with KTGY to form KTGY Simeone Deary Design Group), the Chicago-based designers are meticulous in the execution of the forward-thinking hotel projects. We'll see you in Vegas next week for the HD Expo 2022! Since most states have a legal obligation to balance their budgets every year, surpluses like this are rare, the article points out, and state and community leaders have jumped on the opportunity to put it to use. Back in 2020, the hotel industry lost 60% of all room revenue, said Carter Wilson, senior vice president of consulting and analytics at CoStar’s hospitality analytics firm STR. The next year, a strong recovery was fueled by transient and leisure demand, resulting in about 83% of that lost revenue being recaptured.
While this year is off to a bit of a slow start with concerns over the omicron variant, inflation and labor supply, the U.S. hotel industry recovery is expected to accelerate, Wilson said. STR’s latest forecast calls for nominal average daily rate to fully recover by the end of the year and nominal revenue per available room to recover to 2019 levels next year.
